Pre-treatment

Pre-treatment is a key component of the Sea Water Reverse Osmosis desalination plants.

Its purpose is to efficiently protect the membranes regardless of the seawater quality fluctuations. Its versatility and robustness determine the long-term viability of a RO desalination plant.

The main steps of pre-treatment

Depending on the quality of the raw water, pretreatment can be made of the following stages:

- a Floatation stage

- a Media Filtration stage, which can be either pressurised or based on gravity

- an Ultra-Filtration stage

- a Cartridge Filtration stage

Benefitting from Veolia's expertise in Water treatment, SIDEM has a whole range of products or combined solutions to deal with all types of feedwater.
