Gas turbine & desal plant

The electrical power is generated by a gas turbine. The heat generated by the plant is used to generate medium pressure steam in a heat recovery boiler. In turn this MP steam is used at the battery limit of the desalination plant for the production of fresh water. The steam pressure is high enough therefore the Multiple Effect Distillation will be enhanced by using a thermocompressor: the desalination plant is of MED-TVC type.

Typical power-to-water ratios are in the range of 10:1, i.e. 1,000 MW for 100 MIGD (450,000 m3/day) of water produced.
