Sidem was awarded a contract in December 2005 for the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of 10 desalination units of 27,276 m3/day (6 MIGD) each for the Al Hidd IWPP project in Bahrain. The scope of work also includes: 3 x 250 t/h auxiliary boilers and gas receiving station, blackstart generator, CO2 plant, limestone based re-mineralisation plant, electrochlorination plant, sea water pumps and sea water filtration system, reject culvert, industrial buildings and ancillary equipment. The plant is based on the MED-TVC process.
The client is Hidd Power Company and the end-user Electricity and Water Authority. The commissioning of the 272,276 m3/day (60 MIGD) plant is scheduled to start in 2007.
