When commissioned Layyah will produce 26 MIGD (118,200 m3/day) of water from Sidem's 4 MED units

Sidem was awarded a contract in December 2005 for the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of a 8 MIGD desalination unit at Layyah, Emirate of Sharjah. This order follows 2 MED units of 5 MIGD booked in 1999 and one unit of 8 MIGD booked a year ago. The project also includes a new potabilisation plant, 2 auxiliary boilers and seawater pumps.

The client is Sharjah Electricity & Water Authority. The commissioning of the unit is scheduled for 2007.
