Marafiq IWPP - Saudi Arabia

With a capacity in excess of 800,000 m3/day (178 MIGD), this project is a major landmark for Sidem

Sidem was awarded a contract in January 2007 for the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of 27 desalination units, 30,000 m3/day each, in the frame of Marafiq IWPP, Saudi Arabia. The scope of work also includes: potabilisation plant, CO2 plant, sea water supply and reject lines, sea water booster pumping station and other ancillary equipment. The plant is located in Jubail and is based on the MED-TVC process.

The contract was awarded as part of Marafiq Independent Water & Power Production (IWPP) project to a consortium made up of General Electric, Hyundai Heavy Industries and Sidem.

The client is Jubail Water and Power Company and the end-user Marafiq. The commissioning of the 178 MIGD plant is scheduled to start in 2009.
