Fujairah II IWPP - UAE

This project is the first success of Veolia Group with the supply of 2 desalination technologies on the same project

Sidem was awarded a contract in August 2007 for the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of 12 desalination units, 38,640 m3/day (8.5 MIGD) each and 30 MIGD reverse osmosis plant in the frame of Fujairah II IWPP project, United Arab Emirates. The scope of work also includes: potabilisation plant, CO2 plant, limewater injection system, sea water pumps, 4 x 90,000 m3 storage tanks and other ancillary equipment. The thermal desalination plant is based on the MED-TVC process and with 8.5 MIGD capacity each is equipped with the largest MED units todate. The reverse osmosis plant is supplied by OTV as a subcontract.

The contract was awarded as part of Fujairah II Independent Water & Power Production (IWPP) project to a consortium made up of Alstom and Sidem.

The client is Fujairah Asia Power Company and the end-user the Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority. The commissioning of the plant is scheduled to start in 2009.
