Ras Laffan C IWPP - Qatar

The project includes 10 desalination units of 28,640 m3/day for a total capacity of 286,400 m3/day (63 MIGD)

Sidem was awarded a contract in June 2008 for the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of 10 desalination units, 28,640 m3/day each, for Ras Laffan C, Qatar. Apart from the 10 desalination units, the scope of work includes a potabilisation plant, CO2 plant, sea water supply and reject lines, sea water booster pumping station and other ancillary equipment. The plant is based on the MED-TVC process.

The project was awarded as part of Ras Laffan C Independent Water & Power Production (IWPP) project.

The client is Mitsui Bahrain and the end-user Ras Girtas Power Company. The commissioning of the 286,400 m3/day (63 MIGD) plant is scheduled to start in 2010.
